Peaceful Protest to Save 'Dome' Theater Planned for Saturday

The "Save the Dome" group will hold a demonstration April 6 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the CinéArts theater in Pleasant Hill.

"Dome" advocates will gather Saturday as part of a final effort to save the theater from demolition, which could take place as early as the end of April.

With SyWest's development plans for the Crossroads Shopping Center now approved by the Pleasant Hill Architectural Planning Commission, the next step is an appeal to the city before the April 9 Planning Commission meeting.

At the age of 46 years, the Dome Theater is almost as old as the city of Pleasant Hill which has graced its 51st year. Did you know this landmark is scheduled to be demolished in a month?

SAVE THE DOME Organizers will be hosting a peaceful demonstration on Saturday, April 6, 2013 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at CineArts Dome Theater located at 2314 Monument Blvd, Pleasant Hill, CA 94523

People are invited to bring out the whole family to the CineArts Dome Theater to show support of saving it from demolition! It’s one of the last of its kind! All are welcomed to come and show support for this effort as we get ready to file an appeal with the Pleasant Hill City Council to preserve the theater.

Attendees will have an opportunity to:

● Write letters to the Pleasant Hill City Council

● Become updated on the appeal process and shown how to get involved with this effort.

● Make a video testimony to be put onto YouTube and submitted to the Pleasant Hill City Council

● Handout flyers to raise community awareness.

Supporters are encouraged to bring a t­shirt and make a "SAVE THE DOME" t­shirt, grab a balloon and learn about the theater’s history!
