The "Dome" Puts On One Last Show

The 46-year-old theater played its final movie on Sunday, with a full house for "2001: A Space Odyssey."

The sun rose above the earth as the opening fanfare began — and the packed theater erupted in applause.

"Long live the dome!" someone shouted.

Movie goers relished one final screening at Pleasant Hill's 46-year-old movie theater on Sunday night, with a full house watching "2001: A Space Odyssey."

Now it's lights out as the "dome" awaits demolition— but there still may be a ray of hope. The Pleasant Hill City Council will hold a public hearing on May 6 to consider an appeal to "Save the Pleasant Hill Dome." Meanwhile, SyWest Development has already been granted a demolition permit, which could be executed at any time.
