Mend The Safety Net At DVC Forum

Saturday free event is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Diablo Valley.

The League of Women Voters is holding a forum on "Mending the Safety Net for Children and Families" on Saturday.

The free event starts at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Diablo Valley College Humanities Building, Room 109, 321 Golf Club Road, Pleasant Hill. Parking is available in Parking Lot 7.

The panel is:

Paul Buddenhagen, Program Manager, Spark Point Center
Larry Sly, Executive Director, Contra Costa Food Bank
David Gerson, Executive Director, Loaves and Fishes of Contra Costa
Carol Carrillo, Executive Director, Child Abuse Prevention Council

If you spend money on school supplies spread out, like $150/mo, you do not accumulate enough in any one month to get any reward at all. The deal sounds great, but I've found it completely useless and frustrating. I think it's a ploy for positive press only, and of little help to a teacher.
