Relay For Life® of Pleasant Hill

Cancer survivors and their caregivers are invited to walk the first lap to kick off the Relay For Life of Pleasant Hill, an awareness-raising and fundraising event for the American Cancer Society.

The Relay begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 19, and will be held at the Pleasant Hill Middle School track. There is no fee to attend, although there will be numerous contribution opportunities.

All cancer survivors are welcome at the Relay, even if they are not part of a team, and even if they are being pushed in a wheelchair.

At the Relay, teams that have been raising money for weeks or months will have at least one member walking the track throughout the 24-hour event to signify that cancer never sleeps, and neither does the fight against cancer.

Energetic and entertaining activities on Saturday will include exercise classes, goofy-themed laps, a Kids Zone, live music, and "fun" happenings with cancer awareness messages.

After sundown, a solemn "Luminaria" ceremony lit by glow sticks will remember those who are fighting or have lost the fight against cancer.

The Relay ends at 9 a.m. Sunday with a "fight back" lap following participants' commitments to healthy lifestyles, regular screenings, and other cancer-thwarting pledges.
