Pleasant Hill Artist Helps Elementary School Students Paint Mural

The mural by Burton Valley Elementary School students in Lafayette will be unveiled on June 5.

Artist Martin Segobia, a Pleasant Hill resident who attended Diablo Valley College and is now at San Francisco State, has collaborated with 126 fifth-grade students from Burton Valley Elementary in Lafayette to create a mural of the school's mascot.

The 8- by 16-foot mural was created using thousands of fingerprints from the students to form an image of a bobcat.

Burton Valley student artists will get a look at the finished result for the first time on Wednesday, when the mural will be unveiled in its new position on the school walls.
