In-N-Out Pulls Out of Proposed Second Location in Pleasant Hill

The burger chain has cancelled an application to open a restaurant next to Black Angus at N. Main Street and Oak Park Boulevard.

Despite waiting in long lines at the drive-thru and dealing with a hectic lunchtime rush, Pleasant Hill will have to be content with just one In-N-Out Burger, for now.

The Southern California-based burger chain notified the City of Pleasant Hill this week that they are withdrawing an application to open another restaurant here.  The initial proposal was submitted in February, 2010 for a 3,500 square foot stand-alone restaurant with a drivethrough facility at North Main Street and Oak Park Boulevard.

An In-N-Out restaurant opened at Contra Costa Boulevard in May, 2012. The second location would have developed the vacant southern portion of the site that currently houses Black Angus Steakhouse, according to city documents. A vacant 3,080-square-foot building would have been demolished, along with portions of the parking lot, for construction of a 149-space parking area and an 8-foot sound wall.

In-N-Out was also proposing off-site improvements, such as new and modified left turn pockets on North Main Street and landscaping to the area.

Pleasant Hill Patch has contacted In-N-Out for comment and will provide further information as soon as it becomes available.
