Brady Campaign to hold "Lie-In" for Sandy Hook School Victims - in SF on Sat 12/22

Protest in SF this Saturday to pay respects to the murdered children and teachers of Sandy Hook Elementary School-- and send a message to elected officials that we hold them accountable!

WHAT:  LIE-IN -- A SILENT PROTEST FOR STRICTER GUN LAWS IN REMEMBRANCE OF THE SANDY HOOK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL VICTIMS

WHEN:  SATURDAY, DECEMBER 22, 2012 – NOON to 1 PM

WHERE:  SAN FRANCISCO: JUSTIN HERMAN PLAZA STAGE (near fountain) – located at the foot of Market Street at the Embarcadero just behind the Hyatt Regency Hotel and across the street from the Ferry Building

WHO:  The public is invited to participate. Arrive early and wear black with a white and green ribbon. Plan to stand or lie down on the stage for several minutes (bring black plastic trash bag to put over clothes if raining).  Wear white and green ribbons for Sandy Brook Elementary School colors. The event is sponsored by the San Francisco, San Mateo/Santa Clara, Oakland/Alameda County, and Contra Costa County Chapters of the CA Brady Campaign.

WHY:  Four Bay Area Chapters of the California Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence are staging a Lie-In to honor the memory of the Newtown victims and send a message to our elected officials that “Enough is Enough – the Carnage Must End!” We will not let Congress, the President, and all elected officials off the hook yet again and this story will not "die" until they make some serious changes in our gun laws.  A "lie in" consists of people lying down one by one, silent and all in black, to represent those killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre. Names of the Newtown victims and other CA shooting victims will be read.    For more information:  1ofamillion@comcast.net

Yes, I will be there, standing/lying w/you! How can you look at the faces of all the innocent victims, especially the children who were just toddlers yesterday, and not feel the urge to join in?? We must remember them, and then take action, so that they will not have died in vain. We cannot call ourselves a "civil society" until we change the laws to stop the daily bloodshed. Our lawmakers have to finally "get the message" that we demand to stop the gun violence. Wear black and come!

I will try to be there. I have grandchildren the ages of those first and second graders who were murdered at school. I can't imagine what their families are going through. As President Obama said, "If we can't get this right, we can't get anything right." God bless the children and teachers who were killed. We know they are in heaven. God keep their families and the students and teachers who survived. And GOD HELP our elected officials if they don't do anything to stop the carnage in this country!

I cannot be there physically but I will be there. We must hold our elected officials to their word to do something to start the carnage. If is not enough to just ban these weapons, they must be removed from the streets. And remember, the first person killed was the registered owner of the guns and the last person was the shooter.

We have to become part of the change. Does anyone know if the mayor of Pleasant Hill has signed the Mayor's Against Illegal Guns letter? It's a start.
