If It Floods: Where To Get Sand Bags

Pleasant Hill has three locations for residents to get sand bags if they need them

Rain is expected to be with us now for the next five days.

That means the danger of flooding will be with us the rest of the week, too.

In anticipation, Pleasant Hill officials have set up three locations where residents can put together their own sand bags.

They are in the City Hall parking lot on Gregory Lane, the Community Center parking lot on Civic Drive and the dirt parking lot at Pleasant Hill Middle School on Hawthorne Drive.

Each location will have some sand bags already filled, but city officials ask residents to save those for older people and people with disabilities. Residents are also asked not to take away more than 10 bags each.

Mike Moore, a senior maintenance worker, said Grayson Creek and Murderer's Creek are both prone to flooding, although recent improvements and clean-up along those streams has reduced the risk.

Moore noted low-lying areas such as the Poet's Corner neighborhood between Boyd and Oak Park roads are suspectible to flooding, too.
