Update: Power Restored To Downtown Pleasant Hill

Part of the downtown went dark on Saturday afternoon after a power outage hit the area

Power was restored late Saturday afternoon to downtown Pleasant Hill after the area briefly lost electrical power.

The outage happened shortly before 3 p.m. It affected buildings along Contra Costa Boulevard between at least Gregory Lane and Vivian Drive.

Businesses along that strip were closing up after they went dark. The Starbucks in the shopping center at Gregory and Contra Costa Boulevard asked customers to leave after about 15 minutes of no power.

Traffic signals weren't working along that section of Contra Costa Boulevard. Cars will treating the intersections as four-way stops.

At least two Pacific Gas & Electric Co. trucks were on the scene, searching for the cause of the outage.

At 4 p.m., PG&E's outage map showed 12 customers without power with an estimated time of restoration of 6:30 p.m. The outage had been taken off the map by 5:30 p.m.

Traffic sucks in that area anyways. Very poor design of the crescent plaza. I give pleasant hill an F in their design of this area.

I heard from a source working at PG$E that almost all of the transformers on poles and substations are cheaply made in China and that is why we have so many failures now . Of course we taxpayers pay because of poor quailty and bad management at PG $ E.

...traffic sucks all over this area. It's just damn crowded....WC is like gridlock. I don't think it has anything to do with the design of downtown...but hey, if you don't like it now, wait until Zachary's Pizza opens...

We are lucky to have a downtown. I'm sick of people like you don't develop anything instead complain. You are the typical person who wants a nice shopping district with lots of foot traffic, but you want to park IN FRONT OF THE STORE YOU WANT. It doesn't work that way. You can't have both so get in your 4x4 gas guzzler and go to walmart where you belong. Just don't complain that there is nothing to do in PH. Yes there can be less traffic lights but there isn't. It is a good trade off to have a vibrant area, one that you give nothing for. Park your car and walk around lazy ass. Park and walk to Zacharies. A lot of people have worked hard to get them there. You know nothing so shut up about traffic. It comes with the business. Something you know nothing about.

You want an uncrowded downtown? How does that work? Please explain PH Lover.

I was commenting to Dean, basically saying, yes, it is crowded, and there is traffic all over the entire area (Concord, WC, Lafayette, PH) but it has nothing to do with the downtown design. I LOVE PH so please don't get the impression that I don't. Clearly my message was either not written well or you misnuderstood...I am SUPER happy about all things improving in PH, just so that you know. Have a good night! :)
