Empty Bowls Event

Join the Food Bank for Empty Bowls, enjoy a simple meal served in a handcrafted bowl, tour the warehouse and learn how we are working to get more nutritious food to people in need.

Every night, there are children in our community who go to
bed hungry.  Hunger is often a hidden problem. Empty Bowls is an event dedicated to raising hunger awareness. Join the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano for a simple meal served in a handcrafted bowl and learn what the Food Bank is doing to get food to people in need. Keep the handcrafted bowl you use as a reminder of all the empty bowls in our community.

Chevron is sponsoring two events – one in each of the Food Bank warehouses.

Saturday, March 9
from 5:00-7:00 pm 4010 Nelson Ave Concord

Sunday, March 10 from
3:00-5:00 pm 2339 Courage Drive, Suite F Fairfield

The Cost is $10 per adult, $5 for children under the age of
9 and $30 for a family of four. Both events will feature a variety of soups, beverages and dessert, raffle and door prizes and speakers who are passionate about ending hunger in our community.

Register online at www.foodbankccs.org/events.

The Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano provides food to approximately 149,000 people at risk of hunger each month through direct service programs and a network of 180 partner agencies. During 2012 the Food Bank distributed nearly 16 million pounds of food, enough for over 13 million meals.  You can help support these
efforts by attending Empty Bowls.

The Staples discounts are not really all that helpful. You can usually find lower prices atRead More Wallmart or on Amazon and you must spend a large amount (a couple hundred dollars) all in one month to get any cash back reward at all. If you spend money on school supplies spread out, like $150/mo, you do not accumulate enough in any one month to get any reward at all. The deal sounds great, but I've found it completely useless and frustrating. I think it's a ploy for positive press only, and of little help to a teacher.
