High Speed Chase In Vallejo Ends In Pleasant Hill Thursday Night

Two suspects are in custody - one suspect was fired on by an officer.

by Bay City News

A high-speed chase from Vallejo to Pleasant Hill Thursday night ended in the front yard of an elementary school where Vallejo police fired at a suspect, a police sergeant said.

The chase began in Vallejo when officers attempted to pull over a truck there that detectives identified as part of an investigation, Sgt. K. Schroeder said.

The truck failed to yield and got onto the freeway with officers in pursuit.

The suspects left the freeway in Concord, driving on surface streets and discarding evidence, Schroeder said. The chase ended in the roundabout in front of Fair Oaks Elementary School in Pleasant Hill when the suspects crashed into protective poles there.

The driver ran from the car and made a gesture that made police think he had a gun, and an officer fired one shot that did not hit the suspect, according to Schroeder.

Two suspects were taken into custody, and police recovered evidence at the scene, but had not discovered a gun as of around 9:30 p.m.

Schroeder said police believe that the suspects did dump weapons but they had not yet been found.
