Man Arrested After Holding Jack in the Box Workers Hostage

The suspects is identified as a 41-year-old man from Pittsburg.

-Bay City News

A man was arrested early this morning after allegedly robbing a Jack In The Box restaurant and holding employees hostage at knifepoint, police said.

Officers were called to the Jack In The Box at 1817 Contra Costa Blvd. around 5:40 a.m. on reports of a man with a knife inside the business, according to police.

Police arriving on the scene surrounded the restaurant and evacuated some employees. During their search of the building, officers learned the suspect had attempted to steal cash from the business but instead took one or more employees at knifepoint into an office, police said.

The suspect held the workers hostage as police secured and contained the restaurant. No injuries were reported. Around 6:40 a.m., the suspect surrendered, exiting the building, police said.

Officers arrested the man, identified as 41-year-old Pittsburg resident Samuel Guerrero, on suspicion of robbery, false imprisonment, kidnapping and kidnapping for ransom.

Personally, I appreciate hearing news like this regarding our neighboring communities - it's not like there is a magical barrier between our cities that keep us insulated from each other or that keeps criminals stuck in one community. I also exercise my right to not read an article that doesn't interest me without complaining about it or putting down those who want to be informed about a topic.
Mike, if you don't want to read news about other communities then don't. Look at the address bar at the top when you click in an article and skip those that weren't written via Martinez Patch. Simple solution and it takes less energy than posting negative thoughts.

Kayleen, I totally agree. I read several Patches as we are all connected.
And while I am here... would it be too much to ask for people to do a cursory proof read for typos? It does reflect on * your credibility* when there is bad grammar and spelling.
