Woman had her purse stolen from the trunk of her car in downtown Pleasant Hill

Bay City News Service

A Lamorinda woman was briefly dragged across a Pleasant Hill parking lot
Tuesday afternoon when she attempted to grab onto her purse as it was being stolen, police said.

Around 1:45 p.m., the 47-year-old Moraga woman was loading her
parked car in front of a Verizon Wireless store at 20 Crescent Drive when a
car carrying four suspects drove up behind her, said Pleasant Hill Police Cpl. Matt Kristic.

Kristic said one of the suspects got out of the car and snatched the woman's purse, which was on top of the trunk beside her.

The woman tried to grab hold of the purse but instead grabbed onto the suspect car's passenger door and was dragged a short distance through the
parking lot as the suspects drove away, police said.

The suspects sped off and were last seen driving onto the southbound Interstate Highway 680 on-ramp near Boyd Road.

Police said the victim suffered a minor leg injury and was treated and released at the scene.

Police said the suspect who snatched the woman's purse is described as a black man in his early 20s who is roughly 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall with a medium build and hair braided into cornrows.

The suspect vehicle is described as a tan or brown 1990 Ford Taurus with yellow Pena Motors dealership plates, according to police.

Anyone with information about this crime or the suspects is asked to call Pleasant Hill police at (925) 288-4630.
