No Injuries In Sunday's Suspicious Fire

The fire, which was reported around 11:15 p.m., was brought under control in 20 minutes. Witnesses saw at least one homemade explosive on the scene.

A fire that is being labeled "suspicious" was reported at the mall on the 500 block of Contra Costa Boulevard Sunday night. The one-alarm blaze was knocked down by fire crews in about 20 minutes, and no injuries were reported.

Reports of the blaze came in around 11:15 p.m. Crews saw smoke as they arrived on the scene, and at least one witness reported seeing a beer bottle filled with white liquid and a rag coming out of the top lying outside one of the establishments.

The fire was under control in about 20 minutes, and no injuries were reported, according to the Con Fire dispatcher.

It was not immediately known how many businesses in the strip mall were affected by the fire. A nail salon and massage parlor were damaged by the flames, and other stores, including a futon shop, suffered smoke damage.

An arson inspector was summoned to the scene around 12:30 a.m. to look into what caused the blaze.

The Staples discounts are not really all that helpful. You can usually find lower prices atRead More Wallmart or on Amazon and you must spend a large amount (a couple hundred dollars) all in one month to get any cash back reward at all. If you spend money on school supplies spread out, like $150/mo, you do not accumulate enough in any one month to get any reward at all. The deal sounds great, but I've found it completely useless and frustrating. I think it's a ploy for positive press only, and of little help to a teacher.
