Police are investigating why a Contra Costa Community College District police officer was hit in the face by a small metallic object at Diablo Valley College on Monday morning.
Officer Trina Gaines was transported to Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Walnut Creek after the incident but then returned to the college campus to investigate.
Police believe he incident was a targeted attack and not a random act of violence. There are no suspects.
