Police Log: Naked Man, Creepy Man, Bonfire in the Park

Monday, Jan. 14, 2013

4:19am – A naked man with mud on his face was seen near the corner of Morello Ave. and Taylor Blvd., crawling in the middle of the street toward 7-Eleven. This turned out to be a homeless man who was injured in a tent fire. 

6:47am – Someone thought it would be a good idea to build a bonfire in Chilpancingo Park on Golf Club Rd. What could possibly go wrong?

7:49am – A burglary was reported at Cigarette Outlet on Contra Costa Blvd. One of the store windows had a large hole in it. Smoking is an addiction, but that’s taking it too far.

9:49am – A series of smash-and-grabs occurred in the parking lot of the parking structure on Crescent Dr. Several vehicles had their windows smashed and items stolen from the car. Police found two purses that were stolen from the cars. A suspect was identified, but got away.  

Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013

12:33pm – A stolen credit card was used at Target on Contra Costa Blvd. in an attempt to purchase an iPad. The purchase was declined.

3:52pm – The manager of the Pleasant Hill Inn called to complain that a guest had not yet paid for the room and was refusing to answer the door. No maid service for you, pal.

4:21pm – A resident of Kathryn Dr. found a note on her car asking if she was interested in selling it. That’s a twist on the whole Craigslist thing.

Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013

5:53am – A man was seen in Shadowood Park on a picnic table doing what creepy guys do when they think they’re all alone in a public park. Get a room, dude.

11:46am – A newborn baby was reported crying inside an otherwise-unoccupied locked truck parked at 100 Crescent Dr.

5:33pm – A man came into Get Used bookstore on Golf Club Rd. and tried to sell books the clerk said he had stolen there in the past. When he was asked to leave, the man hung around the parking lot, still trying to sell those books.

7:16pm – A man reported that a case of road rage led to another guy in a Jeep brandishing a large knife at him. Fortunately, both men went their separate ways before things got sticky.

2:58pm – A resident of Marta Dr. reported seeing two men, one in an idling truck, the other checking side gates to see if they were unlocked.

Friday, Jan. 18, 2013

8:03am – A caller reported a man pushing a large crate cart down Viking Dr. The cart was covered with a sheet, and the caller felt the cart pusher was acting in a suspicious manner.

3:17pm – Two women were reported in a heated argument at Carrington College on Civic Dr. The problem—both women were reportedly wearing knives on their belt and the caller was afraid that more than sharp words would be exchanged.

8:26pm – A man was arrested for public drunkenness after he was reported yelling at customers in Sweet Tomatoes on Crescent Dr.

9:41pm. – A young girl called 911 to report that her mom and dad were fighting and she was scared. The dispatcher could hear the sounds of two people shouting in the background.

Friday, Jan. 18, 2013

4:23pm – A smash-and-grab on Chilpancingo Parkway and Old Quarry Rd. resulted in the loss of cash and sunglasses.

5:12pm – A young man who was hanging around Advantage Laundry on Contra Costa Blvd. and reportedly harassing women customers was arrested for possession of syringes, narcotics paraphernalia and probation violation. Sounds like quite a catch.

5:44pm – A man was at a stoplight on Monument Blvd. when his car was rear-ended by a large SUV. Both vehicles pulled over, but when the rear-ended driver got out of his car, the other one drove away.

10:40pm – A man on a bicycle on Camelback Rd. asked a woman if he could borrow her cell phone, came into her apartment, took her credit cards and cell phone and rode away. This is becoming an all-too-common story. Do not lend your cell phone to anyone you don’t personally know.
