Solo Food Fight, Smash-and-Grabber Caught, Meltdown in the Pancake House

The following information was taken from the Pleasant Hill police log and rewritten by Pleasant Hill Patch.

Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013

12:38am – There was a burglary reported at 2255 Morello Ave.

1:17am – A woman in a green sweater and baggy pants was throwing items inside Nation’s Burgers on Contra Costa Blvd. It's not clear which items she was throwing, but if it involved a bacon cheeseburger with everything, that must have made one big mess.

9:09am – A woman at Mary Jane’s Preschool on Vessing Rd. watched a Hispanic male in his late teens or early 20s get out and walk along a line of cars in the parking lot, finally smashing the window of a gray Toyota and taking a purse. Police were alerted, given a description of the vehicle and suspect, and not much later an arrest was made.

10:42am – A man in his 70s in the Original Pancake House on Contra Costa Blvd. was apparently unhappy with the service, or his lot in life, or the way it feels sometimes like you can't make a u-turn anywhere in Pleasant Hill. Whatever the cause, he was yelling and screaming, which is not the kind of ambience a family restaurant is seeking. He was asked to leave and police were called. They caught up to him at a bus stop on Gregory Lane and asked him not to return to the pancake house.

4:20pm – A resident of Vessing Rd. called police to say that an African American woman who was going door to door selling magazines was yelling at the neighbor across the street for not answering the door. Yelling at potential customers is a) a terrible marketing plan, b) a way to get police called on you, and c) if it turns out nobody is home, makes you look more than slightly insane.

7:45pm – The things we do for burgers and fries. A woman reported that as she began to pull into a parking space in front of Five Guys Burgers on Crescent Dr., another woman tried to cross the double yellow line and grab the same spot. The first woman blocked the parking space, which outraged the second woman, who got out of her car and began yelling things we probably can't repeat in this publication. The other woman exchanged explitives for a while, until things finally died down and the second woman drove away. Things like this would make a good reality show.

8:03pm – A cab driver flagged down a police officer to warn him that the cab’s passenger was threatening suicide.

10:05pm – Ah, the price of innocence (or stupidity). A man complained that his friend loaned his cell phone to a black male adult in the parking lot of the Contra Costa Blvd. Safeway. The man, who was on a bicycle, then rode off toward the freeway with the phone.

Saturday, Feb. 24, 2013

2:47pm – A car was reported stolen from the parking lot of the Residence Inn on Ellinwood Way.

6:33pm – A man on Wendy Dr. reported that someone was spinning donuts in front of his house, before the car returned to what he called the “tweaker” house down the street.

Sunday, Feb. 25, 2013

10:09am – A resident of Luella Dr. reported several pairs of underwear scattered on the street. You just know there’s a great back story there.

11:44am – An employee of Denny’s on Contra Costa Blvd. reported that three people left without paying their bill. But they left behind a large bag of casino chips. Meanwhile, a woman returned to the restaurant and demanded the bag of chips be returned to her. She was arrested and released at the scene.
