Woman Injured After Fleeing Suspect Crashes Into Her Car

A Vallejo man was arrested Thursday after crashing into another driver and running from the scene on Viking Drive.

Two people were injured on Viking Drive yesterday as a man fleeing police crashed his Jeep into the car of a 56-year-old Walnut Creek woman and then fled the scene. The woman suffered back injuries, and the suspect was later caught.

The incident began when Pleasant Hill police, working with police from Fairfield, tried to arrest two men outside the 7-11 on Golf Club Road. One man fled on foot and was later captured. The other got into his Jeep and raced away down Contra Costa Boulevard, pursued by officers.

He hit the car driven by the Walnut Creek woman, but was able to get out of the Jeep and run toward Sun Valley Mall. Officers later found him near the I-680 onramp, where he was arrested and taken to Kaiser Permanente in Walnut Creek to treat injuries he sustained in the accident, according to police.
