Fore! CoCo Golf Club Needs City Approval to Keep Up With Golfing Technology

New netting on taller posts will protect golfers at the Contra Costa Golf Club from errant golf balls.

Advances in golf equipment technology that allow duffers to hit the ball higher and farther have rendered 14-year-old netting at the Contra Costa Golf Club ineffective.

The planning commission will hear a proposal from the club to replace netting and posts that stand 40 feet tall with posts that are 55 feet tall. The netting is in the middle of the course and surrounded by mature trees, according to the golf club.
