A seven-table billiard parlor is being proposed next door to a karaoke business in the Country Square Shopping Center on Contra Costa Blvd. The Planning Commission will consider the request at its meeting tomorrow, July 10 at 7:30 in the Council Chambers, 100 Gregory Lane.
Under the proposal, the business would not be allowed to serve alcohol, and would be required to close at 10 p.m. The police department has reviewed the request and given it a thumbs-up, since the karaoke business has not generated any complaints since the new owner took over last year.
The proposed pool hall would share a space with the karaoke business. Owner Sunny Lee said that presently, a lot of customers drive to Oakland to play pool and then travel to a nearby karaoke parlor. By combining the two businesses at the Pleasant Hill facility, those customers would remain in town.
Staff is recommending approval of the application.
