Should a dealer be allowed to hawk guns from a condo in Pleasant Hill? , but a blog post last week from the Contra Costa Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence argued that gun dealers don’t belong in Pleasant Hill’s residential neighborhoods. Not surprisingly, the post sparked a discussion with commenters weighing in on both sides of the issue. John Carter had this to say:
“If anything, this may make the neighborhood safer. A business person who knows and understands all the safety and regulations related to gun ownership. I wish he was my neighbor. I don't see how this will increase criminals, since it has to be internet sales and they don't buy guns legally anyway.”
What do you think? Would a gun business next door make you feel safer in your home, or more vulnerable to gun violence?
The city council is planning a public hearing on the topic in the near future. We’ll let you know when it’s scheduled.
