Marketing manager Zac Shess has been appointed to fill a vacancy on the Rec and Park District board. He was selected Monday from a group of seven applicants.
The vacancy is the result of board member Cecile Shepard resigning. Shess will fill out the rest of her term, which ends in November 2014.
Shess grew up in Pleasant Hill, left home to attend college and pursue his career, and returned in 2003 with his wife and two children. He has worked on several volunteer programs in the city, coached youth baseball and served as a Pleasant Hill Baseball Association league commissioner.
“Whether it was playing and learning how to swim at Pleasant Hill Park, playing bocce in our parks today or having my boys participate in district-sponsored activities, the rec and park district has made important contributions to the enrichment of my family’s life," Shess said. "As a board member, I want to help lead this organization to even greater heights and bring this type of enrichment to other families.”
