MDUSD Candidate Forum Set For Oct. 18

The Pleasant Hill Education Commission is sponsoring the candidate forum Oct. 18 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and features all five candidates.

The Pleasant Hill Education Commission is holding a forum on Wednesday, October 18th for candidates running for the Mt. Diablo Unified School District governing board. The event will take place in the Council Chambers at Pleasant Hill City Hall from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

The five candidates in this year’s election vying for two seats on the board are incumbent Sherry Whitmarsh, and challengers Ernie DeTrinidad, Brian Lawrence, Debra Mason and Barbara Oaks. Incumbent Gary Eberhart is not seeking re-election.

The panel discussion will be moderated by Contra Costa Times Reporter and Columnist, Lisa Vorderbrueggen, and is hosted by the Pleasant Hill Education/Schools Advisory Commission.

Questions will be a mix of those prepared in advance from community input and those submitted the evening of the event from audience members. If you would like to submit a question to be asked during the forum, please email Martin Nelis at mnelis@ci.pleasant-hill.ca.us.

This is the public’s opportunity to meet the candidates who are running for election in November for the MDUSD Board of Trustees and to become informed on candidates’ positions and qualifications.

The forum will be broadcast after the event on Comcast Channel 28, ATT U-Verse Channel 99 and Astound Channel 29.

The Staples discounts are not really all that helpful. You can usually find lower prices atRead More Wallmart or on Amazon and you must spend a large amount (a couple hundred dollars) all in one month to get any cash back reward at all. If you spend money on school supplies spread out, like $150/mo, you do not accumulate enough in any one month to get any reward at all. The deal sounds great, but I've found it completely useless and frustrating. I think it's a ploy for positive press only, and of little help to a teacher.
