Pleasant Hill Gallery: Summertime, And The Living Is Lovely

Add your photos and videos of summer in Pleasant Hill to our gallery.

It doesn't take much looking to find ample evidence of Pleasant Hill's agricultural past, particularly on these succulent summer days.

For instance, a drive by Mangini Farm and fruit stand on Pleasant Hill Road reveals a bounty of sunflowers, as well as rows of corn and other crops that seem to be bursting from the ground. Scattered ancient farm implements only serve to highlight the experience, yet it's all here in the middle of a bustling suburban crossroads. The Maginini sunflowers, by the way, were the subject a few years ago of an oil painting by an artist named Susan, who did a very Van Gogh-ish rendition of them.

Also in full bloom right now is the community garden at Pleasant Hill Park. A couple of giant pumpkins, which apparently don't know it's only July, are already showing off, while tomatoes, melons, squash and other bounty abound.
