Pleasant Hill's Macaroni Mom

Local mom provides a free resource for busy families.

Hi, my name is Susan Dowey, your local Macaroni Mom.  What is a Macaroni Mom you say?  Well it doesn't have anything to do with pasta and cheese!  A Macaroni Mom is a member of your local community who likes to share great local information for families and kids.  Do you ever find out about a great event after it happens?  Do you run out of creative activities to keep your kiddos busy? Are you in need of a new dinner recipe?  I have these dilemmas and a whole lot more covered in my free weekly online newsletter Macaroni Kid, which covers the Pleasant Hill, Walnut Creek and Lafayette areas. There are over 500 Publisher Moms (and Dads) across the country delivering the local scoop for families each week.

I love living in Pleasant Hill.  It is a perfect town for families.  While Pleasant Hill is a relatively small city, there is a wealth of things to do here and a lot of wonderful residents who make Pleasant Hill, well, pleasant.  I love the fact that I can drive 10-15 minutes in any direction and be just about anywhere I need to go in my daily life whether it be a soccer field for a kid's game, a shopping mall, a movie theater, or a wide variety of restaurants.  We are also fortunate to have a wonderful recreation and park district in our town that provides excellent programs for residents of any age.  Pleasant Hill is also filled with caring parents who want to ensure that our children receive the best education possible and support our schools in every way they can.  These elements and many more make a great community.

As a Pleasant Hill Patch blogger, I plan to highlight great things for families to enjoy in the area. There are so many free or inexpensive ideas to share.  I also plan to make sure you know about ways in which you can help our community as well.  I look forward to connecting with you on Patch!
