Red Cross Asks Blood Donors and Recipients to Share Their Stories

The "Summer of Stories" campaign is an effort by the American Red Cross to spread the word about the potential impact of donating blood. Do you have a story to share?

Summer is a time to create new stories — and it's also an opportunity to ensure someone else's "happily ever after."

The American Red Cross has launched a "Summer of Stories" campaign to share tales of giving and receiving the gift of life through blood donation. The idea is to encourage people to "live a story" and "give a story" by becoming a blood donor this summer.

There are typically fewer blood donors during the summer months of June, July and August, according to the American Red Cross. But this seasonal challenge can be overcome if at least two more donors give blood at every Red Cross blood drive this summer, the Red Cross says.

Share your story online through the Summer of Stories page on the American Red Cross website.

Donate blood at the American Red Cross Pleasant Hill Donor Center by making an appointment online at RedCrossBlood.org or calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).

Have you ever given or received blood? Why? Share your story in the comments below.
