Dave Brubeck is our history. As a young couple we loved his music and as he grew older so did weRead More still loving his compositions. We thought he would live forever and so he will as we play and listen to his recordings. He and Paul Desmond must be having a great reunion--we salute them both!

Dave Brubeck was not just a jazz giant but also a gentle man and family man, married 70 years to hisRead More college sweetheart. He was the pre-emminent member of the Honorary Board of the Concord Historical Society. Dave loved to talk about his growing up in Concord .While spending his early years in Concord, Dave split his time between taking music lessons from his mother, the town classical piano teacher, and working on his dad's cattle ranch which is now Oakhurst Country Club and the Pavilion. It is lucky for all of us that he decided to make music his life's work. The Society Resource Center has a collection of Brubeck family history and photos, and his archives are housed at the Brubeck Institute at UOP, Stockton. The Resource Center is open on Wednesdays from 1-4 at 1600 Sutter Strret, Ste E,Concord.

My condolences to Warren's family and friends. His commitment to the people of our county isRead More inspirational. Warren was a straight shooter, and did not hesitate to stand up for what he believed was right - traits that are sorely needed these days.
