Homes With Good Walkability Ratings For Sale In Pleasant Hill

The obesity epidemic in America has been well-documented.

The Centers for Disease Control estimates two-thirds of adults in the United States are overweight and half of overweight people are obese (one-third of the adult population overall).

A new study contains the latest obesity rates for Contra Costa and Alameda counties. Both are below the national numbers.

Diet and exercise are obvious solutions to this problem. Walking is considered one of the best ways to get daily exercise because it's easy to do, it can be done by most age groups and it's relatively injury-free.

With that in mind, we thought we'd take a look this week at homes for sale that are within walking distance of shopping centers, schools, parks and other facilities.

Overall, Pleasant Hill has a walkability rating on walkscore.com of 63. The site describes the city as "somewhat walkable."

This four-bedroom, two-bathroom home at 798 Ruth Drive has a walkability rating of 78. It's listed at $529,950 and is described "totally updated" and within walking distance of schools.
